The InterContinental Lusaka heralds a new era in luxury.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, a member of IHG Hotels & Resorts Luxury & Lifestyle Collection, is celebrating a new era of luxury today with the reopening of InterContinental Lusaka after a two-year multi-million dollar renovation.

For over 50 years, the InterContinental Lusaka has been a city landmark and one of Zambia’s hospitality icons. The property has now been completely renovated and is one of Lusaka’s first international luxury hotel brands. The reopening establishes a new benchmark for luxury in the region.

Luxury Design That is also Functional

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has been pioneering luxury travel around the world since 1946, and InterContinental Lusaka is one of the brand’s legacy properties. It was designed in 1968 by architect William B. Tabler under the supervision of industry pioneer and IHG’s Lead Designer at the time, Neal Prince.

This time, the hotel collaborated with Dexter Moren Associates, a London-based design firm that created a scheme inspired by rich Zambian materials, patterns, and high-quality furnishings. Rooms and public areas have been designed to appeal to local and international business and leisure guests looking for discreet luxury. The design also incorporated Zambia’s unique lines and warm colors – emerald green and copper – for a distinctively luxurious atmosphere, creating harmony between materials for an exquisite finish.

Luxurious Amenities and Suites To Meet All Requirements

The InterContinental Lusaka now offers four different types of rooms to meet different needs, including spacious Classic Rooms, Junior Suites, Executive Suites, and Presidential Suites.

The seven-story hotel has 106 non-smoking rooms, including 87 suites.

The InterContinental Lusaka offers authentic experiences that amplify the spirit of both the city and the countryside, with special emphasis on symbolic features of Zambia’s beautiful scenery in the intricate details of the copper décor.

Delectable Culinary Excursions and Meeting Opportunities

After a long absence, guests can now enjoy a variety of new restaurants. The Makumbi Club Lounge on the 7th floor is a one-of-a-kind feature, providing a tranquil indoor and outdoor dining experience for breakfast, high tea, and evening canapes, as well as a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The Makumbi Club Lounge also has four private meeting rooms and an outdoor deck that is ideal for relaxing.

Diners can also enjoy the best flavors of Italian cuisine as well as all international delicacies at “Curate,” which is presented by seasoned chef Chef Giuliano. Freshly prepared breakfast, a buffet selection of pastries, freshly squeezed juices, salads, cold cuts, and a live cooking station are also available at the all-day dining restaurant.
