Robins Camp
Robins Camp, now revitalized under new private management, marks the exciting resurgence of a legendary safari destination in Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park. Nestled in the remote and rugged northern Basalt region, this area is renowned for its unique landscape, abundant natural water sources, and diverse wildlife. The terrain is dotted with seeps and springs, creating lush environments that attract a wide array of animal life.
Robins Camp is home to some of Africa's last remaining great buffalo herds, with sightings of over 2,000 individuals still common. This abundant prey population has made the region one of the most sought-after habitats for predators, particularly lions, which thrive in this area with the highest concentration in the entire park. Alongside lions, visitors can expect to see large populations of reedbuck, roan, sable, and tsessebe, as well as the iconic elephant herds that Hwange is famous for.
What sets Robins Camp apart is the frequent sightings of rarer species such as cheetahs and the elusive painted dogs (also known as African wild dogs), both of which are regularly spotted roaming the plains. The variety of scenery is equally captivating, from rolling hills and rugged kopjes (rocky outcrops) to expansive vleis (seasonal floodplains), offering a visually stunning backdrop for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike.
Robins Camp is an ideal destination for families, welcoming children of all ages. Whether you prefer the freedom of self-driving or the convenience of a fully guided safari, the camp provides the perfect base for exploring this untamed wilderness. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich biodiversity and dramatic landscapes, making for an unforgettable safari experience at one of Hwange’s most iconic locations.
